When choosing safety equipment, the first step is not the product but identifying the risk faced during work. Head, eye, hearing, respiratory, face, body and fall protection products address different types of risk, so each item should be assessed within its own intended use.
Different head and face protection may be needed depending on impact, particles, splashes or other risks in the working environment. Compare head protection, eye protection and face shields by intended use and product technical data.
For respiratory protection, the filter or mask class matters; for hearing protection, the ambient conditions and the product's stated performance values are key. Assess respiratory protection and hearing protection as separate risk groups.
Products such as full body harnesses, connectors, lanyards, lifelines and fall arresters should be assessed not on their own but as parts of a system. Check product compatibility and the instructions for use as you browse our fall protection equipment.
For knee pads, protective arm sleeves, protective coveralls and similar products, check the protected area and the intended risk in the product description. Compare body protection and other equipment by application.
See our guide, which covers personal protective equipment (PPE) groups, selection criteria and key points of use in more detail.
